Begin Next Year's Perennial Garden Now
I have all sorts of clients for my garden work.
Some for more than 10 years!
Some of my clients already know quite a bit about perennial flower gardens. They hire me so that they can count on me to take care of their gardens, allowing them to dabble in it periodically, for fun.
Others have almost no experience, but they saw a garden and decided to enrich their environment, their quality of life, and even the value of their real estate with a garden of their own.
They found me. We understood each other. We start the garden and our working relationship from scratch.
Some fall somewhere in-between. They had an idea to plant some perennials. So, they went and bought a few they liked. They just wanted to dive in and do it, figure it out along the way, which is great!
Until, they begin to realize the numerous factors involved: USDA hardiness zone, microclimate, geographical location, place in a yard or in containers or window boxes, sunlight, soil, water, drainage, amount of vertical and horizontal space per plant, bloom time (when and for how long). I could go on. Sometimes, this information overwhelms.
So, I made a one-page info sheet with key questions to answer before you buy any plants for your garden, whether you are DIY-ing it or choose to hire a garden designer/builder/maintainer (like me).
Filling out this one sheet before you shop for your plants will help get you a good initial understanding of what plants will grow and prosper in your space, how to identify the best location, what USDA Zone are you in… so you know if a plant you purchase will return in the spring or die once winter sets in, etc.
